Borussia (also known as Borussia Monchengladbach) is a German football club based in Monchengladbach. Borussia is one of Germany's most successful team which has many supporters all over Europe and is well known all over the world. Borussia plays in the Bundesliga (Division 1), the Borussia club has more than 50,000 members. This is why it is of the five biggest football clubs in Germany. Borussia's official mascot is the Junter, the Junter is a person dressed up in large foal costume; wearing the Borussia team's football kit with the number 10 over the costume. The Junter is named after Borissia's legendary player Gunter Netzer.

Borussia Monchengladbach played its way into the Bundesliga in the 1965-1966 season. In 1970 Borussia Monchengladbach won the Bundesliga championship. When Borussia Monchengladbach won the Bundesliga championship again in 1971, Borussia Monchengladbach became the first Bundesliga club ever to successfully defend its title.

Borussia Monchengladbach's golden era has come to an end in the 80's with 8 titles in the club credit. Since Borussia Monchengladbach had to sell some of its best players because of financial problems, it became much harder to achieve success. In the 90's, it became even harder for the club. It was only in the 2007-2008 season that Borussia Monchengladbach managed to get promoted back to the Bundesliga.

Over the years, Borussia Monchengladbach fans have developed a unique bond with the fans of the English Liverpool football club. This unique bond begun forming when the two clubs played against each other in a Uefa Cup final and a European Cup final in the 1970's.
